Dancing Crane Coffee House

I discovered a real jewel of a coffee house today while visiting Bay Mills which is west of the Soo. The Dancing Crane Coffee House is on Lakeshore Drive and is really worth the drive.

Dancing Crane has bagels, muffins and rolls as well as many games to encourage you to sit and enjoy. There are interesting articles for sale which makes it a comfortable spot to sit and sip.

There is a place for live music and some is scheduled in August. However, anyone is welcome to pick up an instrument and share their talents.

Cathy, whose husband cut the logs and build the coffee house, owns the Dancing Crane. She has a wide selection of fair trade and organic coffees and teas that she hand-picked for their taste. This means you will have a great cup of coffee no matter what flavor you order. And get this-a cup of brewed coffee is only $1.
The drive-up window offers convenience and even some good-natured kidding from the customers.
I'll definitely be returning to the Dancing Crane to try a latte and browse the assortment of things for sale.

Any idea why Abner's is closed? Says it's being remodeled but seems like the wrong time of the year (busy season) to be closed.

I noticed that too. We live downstate and we went to Abners when we were on our Honeymoon almost 14 yrs ago. I really liked there buffet as it was good home cooked food. It seems as the years went by (We went up every year) the food value and quality went down. It wasn't the same as it once was. The last time I checked before they closed they no longer served the buffet and it was just a sit down restraunt. Pretty sad for what it once was.
Sorry to be long winded but wanted to share my memory of what was once a great place to eat.

My husband and I are from the Lansing area (Williamston) and we stopped in to Dancing Crane and what a great place it is!! We are also coffee roasters and love a great cup of coffee. The coffee we had at Dancing Crane was awesome!! The owners were present and very attentive. We had a great time and plan to return tomorrow while we are still here!

I just stopped here on a way from NYC to Chicago via Great Lakes and I must admit: if this place would be in NYC I would sit there every day. The coffee is great, what a difference from Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts garbage. We have a similar place but not as fancy in Bethel, CT called Molten Java, but this place really rocks. There is a nice beach behind the coffee house, I will definitely return here next year.
